  1. Bruce Biermann Says:

The docking station did not connect well with my Nano (4th Generation) and fails to work half the time. The remote is also faulty, with only four of the 15 buttons working.

As a former, long-time fan of Sony equipment, this product fails miserably.

I regret buying this through Amazon.

I’m a little disappointed with this purchase. It was described as able to charge my phone while docked and that is not true….my phone won’t charge on this system.

Other than that, it looks good, sounds good, pretty easy to use. But it won’t charge.

  3. Steve Geller Says:

My only con is that the sound is a little bass heavy, even with the bass booster off. Otherwise its a great product…looks nice, remote works well, good quality, and priced well. I’d recommend it.

I have several issues with this item:

    1) The sound is lousy. All bass, no treble. And this is with the bass booster turned off. Even with it off, there is no high end. I had to check to make sure I wasn’t under water. With it on, the floorboards buzz, and there is no definition – you get a wall of mushy, lo-fi whale songs instead of your music. Worse, the only way to turn off the bass booster is with the remote which does not come with batteries.

    2) This design with the iPod cradled in front (used by many products) looks good in a photo, but is not so great in practice. Since there are a variety of sizes of iPods and iPhones, you have to jam an adapter in the dock to give your device support. If you have a cover on your iPhone, you are out of luck – it won’t fit. I could not get my second generation iPod to fit in the adapter. The result is your iPod impaled on the plug with no support and lots of leverage to tweak the plug. This can not be good. To use the iPod buttons takes two hands since you need to support the back to keep from bending the plug.

    3) The device controls do not fully control your iPod, so you need to resort to manipulating the iPod directly to select a song. You can use the remote to flip through songs within a directory, but you cannot get out and into another directory. The volume control on the remote does work.

Don’t buy this, unless your intending it to use it as a sonic warfare device against your downstairs neighbors. Sony is not what it used to be.

I bought this for my wife for Mother’s Day, and I was concerned the sound quality would not be great. I consider Bose the quality by which all others are judged, and this is very good sound. My wife has an Ipod Nano, 4G, and this was the only one I could find to fit it. There are several adapters for the Ipods and Iphone. I simply took it out of the box, found the right adapter, put the Ipod on, then pushed the power button. I then added batteries to the remote and it all worked perfectly. I would recommend this for anyone wanting speakers for their Ipod or Iphone.
