Please read the description carefully! I bought this item assuming that it would charge my iPhone, since it plugs into the power port of the car. Unfortunately, I did not read the product description carefully enough, and this is only a mount for your device. You still have to buy a separate charger that will plug into the pass-through that mounts in the power port. This seems utterly useless to me, but maybe someone wants to hold their iPhone/iPod in place while either running down the battery or buying a separate charger that takes up more space in your car.

Disappointed with product. Ratcheting mechinism no longer works and is stuck in an extended position. Entire unit severely sags on dash when IPhone is cradled in unit. Why did I buy this?

The grease on the clamping gears is to thick for sub-zero temp. If left on the dash to warm up it will start to work. It is also a bit loose in the power socket on a GM van. All in all It is the best one I’ve found on the market.

The concept of the mount is good, but the design is horrible. When plugged in to the 12 Volt source or cigarette lighter socket and positioned as pictured in the advertisement, when the 12 Volt outlet is below the adjustable arm, the assembly is top-heavy when holding an iPhone or iPod. The weight causes the unit to rotate so that the Pod or Phone is below the midpoint (center of mass). There is no way to correct this short of possibly using epoxy to adhere the mount in the 12 Volt source. I will be returning the mount.
