I applaud them for small and therefor environmentally friendly packaging. The headphones come in a small ziplock with additional earcups and warranty card. The problem is that twice in the listing (product description and from the manufacturer) they say a travel case is included. “Also included is a sleek, rugged, designer travel case to protect and organize your Micro Atomics and accessories for travel.” Well it isn’t, or least wasn’t for me! -UPDATE- They have now fixed the product information and it is correct -UPDATE-

There could be a couple reasons for this. a) they don’t really include a case, and because it’s new to Amazon.com they just cut and pasted the standard J3 verbiage. b) freak mistake and I was just unlucky. -UPDATE- Turns out it was a) -UPDATE-

Either way not a great start to the first purchase from a brand. I have the Shure SCL2 earbuds (and travel case) and I find them a little too clunky and heavy. These ones from JLab are smaller lighter and offer comparable sound, I am going to run them overnight like suggested and see if they sound even better. Plus these have a built in microphone, and while it is considerably bigger than the one on a standard set of iPhone earpods, seems to work well.

Like the buyer below, I did NOT get the case that is listed in the J3M (earbuds with microphone) product description. No matter how good a product is, you can’t give a good review to something that does not come as advertised.

UPDATED: In the comments to my review based on the product misdescription to remedy the misdescription problem, JLAB offered to fix the problem by shipping either the J3 earbud case, or the Samba iPhone/earbud case. At any rate, JLAB is plainly 100% committed to standing behind its stuff, and should be commended. Kudos!

On to the earbuds themselves: I am not an audiophile. I believe in finding good-sounding products, and in eschewing the audiophile path, which involves throwing away significant money chasing diminishing marginal returns in pursuit of transcendent sound.

These earbuds sound very good. The bass is tight and deep, and the midrange and treble have good clarity. When I’m walking, the joggling of the wires produce a slight acoustic ‘thump’ inside my ear canal. Hooking the wires over my ears takes weight off the wires, and the problem goes away.

They are quite comfortable for me with the stock pads. There are four sizes included, for those with ear canals that don’t fit the stock size.

I don’t think these work with iPhone 3GS. I don’t have one of those, and I think I would prefer the simpler, old-school iPhone single-button mic to the 3GS version anyway. The lack of the more complicated controls to me is a feature, not a bug, of the J3M

    Build quality:

They have a very Chinese look and field to them- $20 price class not $100 – Think counterfeit sennhieser from ebay if you are familiar. Within two days the metal screen came off inside my ear.

    SQ:

The sound quality is poor too it is very shrill and probably due to a poor impedance match at higher frequencies. The bass is non existent even with boost and it doesnt improve after “Break in”

    Comfort:

Painful. The ear pieces are very cheap and thin. I used some earpieces from one of my many dead vmoda vibes and it improved. Also, I have a hard time getting them to sit without creating air pressure in my ear and being unable to hear. I have never had that problem before

    MIC:

there is no clip to hold the mice in place. Nobody can hear me- Complaints every phone call. I took a clip off of one of my dead Vmodas and I still get complaints

Id look elsewhere…these are getting returned

when i first looked at these headphones i was a little hesitant on even considering buying them but i saw a lot of good reviews for them so i thought what the heck why not! when i got them they seemed ok, but when i took them to go workout with, well not so good. i like to listen to my music loud because i train for worlds strongest, and its what gets me “pumped up” but when i turned the volume to setting where i normally have it the music was all crackled, there was no bass, and it just sounded like that the headphones were blown out. another thing that disappointed me was the length of the chord. it wasn’t long enough it kept getting pulled out of my ears which didn’t feel to good either

I didn’t like the diaphragm style they used in this earphone. When you stick the buds into your ear, you’ll hear the plastic diaphragm crackle. I gave it away.
