The price of this is great however it is not a good product becuase after instaling the new glass only the right side of the touchscreen worked. It did not work for me but for the price it’s worth the shoot.

The item was great. I used an instructional video on YouTube. My only problem was I stripped one of my screws…my fault tho.

This is the 2nd replacement screen that I put on my iPhone 3G. The first replacement screen worked well until I smashed it again. So I got this 2nd replacement screen thinking it’ll work as well as the 1st replacement. But I was wrong.
This screen is way too sensitive. As soon as I put the phone to my ear in the middle of a call, the contact between my cheek and the phone always triggers some buttons on the touch screen – sometimes it’s the mute button, sometimes it’s the End Call button, and other times it would try to call a random person on my contact list.
With this kind of sensitivity, it nearly renders the phone function of my iPhone unusable, unless I use a bluetooth headseat and avoid any contact between the phone and my face. It’s particularly frustrating when I’m on important calls.
The installation, however, was very easy with the 8 tools. I particular like the suction cup, which made removal of the old screen much easier. But these plus are far outweighed by the frustration of the sensitivity of the new screen.

After breaking my iPhone 3G’s screen, I opted for replacing it with this at a tenth of the cost Apple offered me. The part arrived in good condition and in good time. I laid it all out, and after watching a few videos, managed to replace it without a hitch. I only ended up using one of screwdrivers, the suction cup and one of the screen pry tools. There’s really no need to use the guitar picks and stuff. Like other reviewers said, the screwdrivers are pretty awful, so I recommend picking up one somewhere else, if you don’t have one already. I had to stop in the middle of my repair to go get a $5 screwdriver set from Lowe’s because this screwdriver wasn’t strong enough to take out one of the tighter screws.
After the repair, the phone worked great, but after a bit I found a fair number of things that indicated it wasn’t an original part. They are…
1. The screen felt a little funny at first–powdery maybe?–but after some use it seemed to go away.
2. It does hold onto a few more fingerprints than the original screen does, but I quickly got used to it.
3. Sometimes there would be chunks of time (20 seconds or so) that the screen would be totally unresponsive. I think this may have been a phone problem, not a screen problem as it always occurred in chunks of time, rather than sporadically. Maybe if you reconnect the little ribbons etc. extra well when you reassemble your phone, you won’t have this problem.
4. There’s a barely noticeable grid-type pattern on the screen. It never bothered me, and I would never see it when I was actually using my phone, but in the right light it would come out. This might be a problem if you watch movies on your phone often, which I didn’t.
Last of all, the part isn’t nearly as strong as the original. I dropped my phone face down for the first time yesterday, and despite it being in a case, the screen has broken again. With my original screen, I had probably dropped my phone the same way at least ten times before it broke. This one broke on the first test. If you babied your iPhone before, and your screen break was merely a one-time thing, I would probably recommend this part to be the most valuable for your money. If you play hard with your phone, like me, I suggest you pay for the real deal, which should probably run you about $50. It’ll save you money in the end.
